Indian Athlete Santhi Soundarajan Tried to Commit Suicide After Gender Testing

Indian athlete Santhi Soundarajan was stripped of her  800m silver medal at the 2006 Asian Games after failing a gender test and later attempted  to die by suicide.  She worries that Caster Semenya will be subject to the same humiliation. 

She told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire show: "It was a very bitter and humiliating experience for me.

"Sports federations should come up with a solution to this, rather than ostracising somebody."

German Singer Jailed on Suspicion of Knowingly Infecting Partners with HIV

A singer from Germany's most successful girl group has been arrested on suspicion that she infected an ex-partner with the HIV virus, prosecutors confirmed today.

Nadja Benaissa, 26, a member of the No Angels band, is accused of sleeping with three men without telling them that she was HIV positive. One is believed to have become infected as a result.

NYTimes: 4 Hours Passed Before Richardson Received Medical Attention

OTTAWA — The actress Natasha Richardson, who died on Wednesday from a brain hemorrhage after a fall on a beginner’s ski slope in Quebec, was not admitted to a hospital until nearly four hours after her accident, according to ambulance dispatch records obtained by the New York Times on Friday.

That is nearly three hours later than the timeline officials at the Mont Tremblant ski resort, about 90 minutes north of Montreal, offered on Tuesday, the day after Ms. Richardson’s fatal fall.

The NYC Medical Examiner’s office has finished its autopsy on Natasha Richardson and concluded she died of  “blunt impact to head.” That was the first official statement at 2:06 PM.

Ellen Borakove, the spokesperson for the NYC medical examiner’s office said the autopsy further concluded Richardson’s death was “an accident” and the exact cause of death was “a epidural hematoma due to blunt impact to the head.”

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsburg was back on the bench Monday just two and a half weeks after cancer surgery. On Feb. 5, Ginsburg had surgery in New York for pancreatic cancer. A statement from the court a few days later said doctors found a cancerous tumor less than one centimeter in size. Doctors said they believe that since the tumor was in its earliest stage of formation that a full recovery is possible.
