April is Autism Month. These are the first three in series of short videos of a lecutre by Julie Matthews that address the value of special diets in the management of Autism. In these videos, the speaker talks about the faulty body biochemistry that can affect the brain "downstream" which can be managed to some degree by improving the health of the gut. To optimize gut health and improve brain function, start by getting rid of foods that contain food additives and food coloring, avoid simple sugars and simple carbohydrates, add healthy bacteria to the diet in the form of yogurt (unsweetened) or supplements, and make sure to provide children with the normal healthy fat in diet; fatty fish or fish oil, pasture-fed meats, unrefined grapeseed, olive oils, and even some saturated fat. Fat is a major building block for the brain.
When children feel better, they learn better.
