In this hilarous classic clip from Da Ali G Show, comedian Sacha Baron Cohen speaks to four medical professionals about medical marijuana, homeopathic medicine, cloning, euthanasia, and breast reduction surgery. The four men clearly have no idea that they are being mocked. Cohen's new movie, Brüno, a mockumentary comedy film, is due to be released on July 10, 2009.

All kidding aside, the medical effects of marijuana and its main ingredient, THC, have been well studied. Although medical marijuana, or cannabinoids, works well against cancer pain, chronic non-cancer pain, and post-operative pain, it works no better than codeine, and has significant adverse effects, including drowsiness, mental clouding, ataxia, dizziness, numbness, disorientation, disconnected thought, slurred speech, muscle twitching, impaired memory, dry mouth, and blurred vision, according to a review in the DARE database.
Glaucoma, an increase in pressure within the eyeball that can lead to damage to the optic nerve and blindness, can be treated with marijuana use or extracts of marijuana such as cannabidiol or Delta-9-THC, but is effectively treated with prostaglandin analogues such as latanoprost, bimatoprost or travoprost or beta-blockers such as timolol. The prostaglandin analogues have a particularly desirable side effect: eyelash growth. A separate product called Latisse has been created to capitalize on this side effect. Beats dazed and confused.
